1. Who we are and what this covers

Nowhop is operated by Clayee Co., Ltd., a company incorporated in the Republic of Korea and the operator of ViviDiary. This policy covers the Nowhop website, its sample demo and the current development version of the Nowhop iPhone app. ViviDiary has its own policy; using Nowhop does not connect your records to ViviDiary.

Email: [email protected] — please include “Nowhop” in your subject.

The app is in development and is not offered for App Store download on this website. The website uses public sample data and does not ask for your location or calendars. App features described below apply when you use a Nowhop build.

2. Information used by the app

Current Nowhop data handling
InformationPurpose and handling
Precise location and walking recordsWith location permission, coordinates, timestamps and position-quality information support your position, saved paths, Fog reveal and country/city exploration. Personal history is stored on the device. Background updates depend on your permission and iOS.
Plans and travel detailsTitles, dates, times, places, notes, trip periods, stays and transfers you enter are saved locally to organize your day. Place coordinates may be sent to Apple when you request related search or directions.
Selected calendar eventsAfter iOS permission, choose calendar labels and a date, then select events to import. Local copies contain essential event fields, source identifiers and calendar labels/colors. Attendees, event notes and meeting links are not imported.
Photos and Daily HopCamera permission lets you take photos without a daily count limit. Stored photos, capture time, time zone and any eligible recorded location stay on the device. New video capture is not offered. Movies are generated only when you choose to export Daily Hop. Existing legacy clips are preserved but excluded from new backups.
Profile and preferencesThe name and settings you choose are kept locally. Nowhop does not require a Nowhop account or receive a password.
Widget summariesA small protected summary and an opaque link token are shared locally with the Nowhop widget. Precise route coordinates and calendar records are not placed in that summary. The widget does not run GPS.
Public map dataNearby building/road geometry and verified city boundaries are downloaded and cached separately from personal records, for map appearance and coverage calculations.

Calendar access is optional. iOS requests full event-access permission, but Nowhop reads events only after you select the source calendars and day. Google calendars are available through accounts configured in iOS Calendar, not a separate Nowhop Google sign-in. Imports do not edit your source calendar or provide two-way synchronization.

The current app has no advertising or analytics SDK, external AI service, HealthKit reader, microphone recording or social feed. We do not use your local records for advertising, sell them, share them for cross-context behavioral advertising or train AI on them.

3. Map services and information leaving the device

Apple. MapKit, place search, Look Around, geocoding and directions use Apple services. Requests can include the map area, search text, relevant coordinates, route endpoints and technical connection information. Nowhop does not upload your complete walking archive to Apple as a backup. Apple handles its services under its Maps privacy information and privacy policy.

Public geometry and boundary hosts. The app requests public geographic files or byte ranges from the configured distribution hosts. A host can receive an IP address, request time, file/region identifier and requested ranges; these may reveal the area being viewed. Those downloads do not send your personal profile or full recorded path. A different visual map style does not create a separate copy of your private history on a server.

Chosen recipients. If you share a card or export a backup, the destination app, person or storage provider receives the content you send. Their handling is governed by their own practices.

Nowhop has no account or synchronization server that receives your local plan and walking database. This does not mean the app makes no network requests or that Apple base maps, new searches and new routes always work offline.

4. Backups, security and sharing

Personal records use iOS file protection and are available after the first device unlock to support permitted background work. Use a device passcode and keep iOS current. These protections do not make an unlocked device or every exported copy immune to access.

The app’s private record folder is excluded from automatic device backup. In Passport → Profile → Privacy & storage, you can create a .nowhopbackup copy of stored photo originals, plans, trips, walking observations and profile information, or restore a copy you choose. All original videos, generated MP4s and downloaded map imagery/geometry are excluded. Existing legacy clips on the original phone are not deleted. There is no automatic Nowhop CloudKit synchronization or Nowhop account requirement.

Backup files contain readable photo content and precise paths, with no additional Nowhop password or encryption. Integrity hashes detect damaged data; they do not encrypt it or authenticate its author. Older readable JSON exports remain a records-only recovery format. Restore adds missing data while preserving existing values; it does not erase the current phone. A force quit may leave partial valid additions that can be retried. Protect the destination and remove copies you no longer need. Choose a personal, unshared Files/iCloud Drive folder. A completed Files copy does not certify that a cloud upload has finished. Account quota, network and provider file limits apply; there is no automatic cloud sync. Apple standard iCloud protection and eligible Advanced Data Protection differ, and some metadata retains standard protection. ADP is not available to every account or region; child and Managed Apple Accounts are ineligible, and new UK users currently cannot enable it. We do not promise unconditional end-to-end encryption.

Sharing is initiated by you through a preview and the system share sheet. Review what the card or file contains before sending it. A shared image or file can be retained or forwarded by its recipient. We cannot retract their copy.

5. Website, cookies and support

The Nowhop site serves static pages and a sample-based interactive demo. The demo keeps its temporary state in memory and resets on reload. It does not read your calendar, collect GPS, create an account or submit a signup form. We do not use advertising pixels, personalized advertising or a fingerprinting service. Optional Google Analytics is limited to this public website and only loads after you select “Allow analytics.” Declining keeps Google Analytics blocked, including cookieless measurement. The iPhone app has no Google Analytics SDK.

The public website at nowhop.app is served through Cloudflare. Website delivery and security can process IP addresses, request URLs/times, browser information and necessary security-cookie data under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. The public site does not require a Nowhop account or hosting-platform sign-in. Hosting the website does not upload your app photos, calendar copies or walking archive to Cloudflare. Cloudflare website delivery is distinct from on-device Nowhop storage and a backup destination you choose in Apple Files. “No Nowhop tracking SDK” does not mean the hosting provider processes no connection data.

Optional website analytics. If you allow it, Google Analytics receives a page view with the public page address and title, a referrer address without its query or fragment, cookie-based identifiers and technical connection/browser information. We remove query strings and fragments from the page addresses we send. We do not send your app archive, GPS paths, calendar, photos, support messages or choices inside the sample demo as analytics events. Google handles these requests under its Privacy Policy. Advertising consent stays denied, and our tag disables Google signals and advertising personalization.

Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to allow or decline website analytics. We remember this choice in your browser for up to 180 days; analytics cookies are configured to expire after at most 180 days without automatic renewal. You can clear browser storage to remove the remembered choice. Withdrawing consent stops new measurement, clears accessible Google Analytics cookies for this host and reloads the page without the tag; it does not automatically erase information already processed by Google. If browser storage is unavailable, your choice applies to this page and you may be asked again on another page. These controls do not change essential Cloudflare delivery/security processing.

If you email support, we receive your address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Authorized support personnel and our email service process these to answer you. Please do not send a complete walking archive, passwords or unrelated calendar details unless needed for the issue. Opening a mail link does not automatically send a message.

6. Retention and deletion

On your device: personal records remain until removed through available editing controls or app deletion. To remove the local app store, use iOS Delete App, not Offload App, which keeps app data. Removing location or calendar permission stops future access; it does not delete previously saved records. Public caches may be replaced as the app manages storage.

Backups and shares: delete exported files from the destinations you chose. Deleting Nowhop does not remove a copy in Files, iCloud Drive, another app or a recipient’s possession. We cannot remotely recover or erase records held only on your phone.

Support: correspondence may be retained for up to three years after an issue is resolved, consistent with the company’s support-retention policy, or longer if a specific legal obligation or dispute requires it. Earlier deletion may be requested where permitted.

Website delivery and access records: retention depends on the hosting/security purpose and provider controls, including incident investigation and legal obligations. Those delivery/security records are separate from consent-based Google Analytics and its configured retention controls. Contact us for information about a specific request.

7. Your choices and privacy rights

You can manage location, precise location, calendar, camera and notification access in iPhone settings. Optional calendar import, widgets, sharing and backups are separate choices. The current development build requires location authorization for its core menus; profile, permission help and privacy utilities remain accessible. Revoking authorization preserves saved records.

Where applicable, our legal bases are your consent for permission-based location and calendar processing; providing the service or support you request; legitimate interests in securing and operating the website and resolving support issues; and compliance with legal obligations. The relevant legitimate interest is reliable, secure service delivery, not advertising or cross-app profiling. Where explicit consent is required for sensitive information, that requirement applies separately.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability or restriction, withdraw consent, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may complain to your local data-protection authority, including the Korean Personal Information Protection Commission, an EEA supervisory authority, the UK ICO or the Swiss FDPIC, as appropriate. California and other applicable U.S. state rights may include knowing, correcting and deleting information and receiving no unlawful discrimination for exercising those rights.

Send requests to [email protected] with “Nowhop privacy request” in the subject. We may ask for proportionate information to verify a request and will respond within the period required by applicable law. We cannot provide a server copy of a local archive we do not hold. The app can export your local backup; you do not need to send that archive to us to make a general privacy request.

This policy is a notice, not blanket consent to unrelated processing. Reading it or continuing to browse does not authorize new advertising, AI training or unrelated sharing.

8. International processing and younger users

The operator is based in the Republic of Korea. Support communications may be handled there, and Apple, hosting, email or user-chosen storage services may process relevant requests in other countries. Your local walking database is not automatically transferred to us because you travel abroad. Processing locations and safeguards depend on the service involved. Appropriate transfer safeguards are required where applicable law requires them; contact us for information relevant to the data the company actually holds.

Nowhop is not a service directed to children under 13. Where a higher minimum age or verified parent/guardian consent is required, that requirement applies. Younger users must meet the eligibility requirements in the Terms. If you believe a child has sent us personal information without required authorization, contact support so we can investigate and delete company-held information where appropriate. Nowhop is not a parental location-monitoring service.

9. Changes and contact

We update this notice when Nowhop’s data handling changes and show the review date above. Material changes will be brought to your attention through the website or app as appropriate, and we will request consent where required before new processing begins. We will not silently apply ViviDiary’s account, health, AI or advertising practices to Nowhop.
