Locate the missing interval

First identify whether the absence is in the recorded path, the background map or a photo’s place caption. These are separate things. A route can exist without downloaded buildings. A photo can exist without a usable position. A visible road does not prove the phone observed you traveling along it.

Choose the date and inspect Route in Hop or the dated record in Passport. Compare with something you actually remember, such as entering a station. Avoid judging continuity from a wide view where several small segments look like one line.

Consider the observation conditions

Location depends on device signals and permissions. Apple describes Location Services as drawing on several technologies and notes that location-based information can be unavailable or inaccurate. A tunnel, dense surroundings or a system interruption can change what reaches the app.

Nowhop also filters suspicious observations and preserves segment breaks. That is necessary to avoid a single bad fix painting an impossible shortcut across a city. It does not mean every rejected or missing interval can be reconstructed afterward.

Keep the memory without fabricating evidence

A moment without GPS remains a photo or clip from its capture time. The supporting map can show genuine recorded movement elsewhere in the selected day, but a cursor should not pretend to know the moment’s missing position. A fixed caption and a moving replay clock answer different questions.

The current Daily Hop timing lets recorded progress unfold between captures. Slowing that presentation does not create new observations. Likewise, importing a calendar appointment supplies an intention, not a historical GPS fix. Keep those distinctions when evaluating an attractive exported movie.

Questions this guide answers

What happens after more than five minutes without an eligible observation?

The current recorder starts a new segment after a genuinely unobserved gap longer than 300 seconds. Sparse saved points during continued observations are a different case. It does not connect a missing interval just to keep the movie continuous.

Can the app simply connect the two ends?

A connecting line would imply knowledge it does not have. A gap should stay visible unless there is actual supporting data; a plausible street route is not proof of your journey.

Can a later connection fix missing GPS?

It can fetch map scenery, but not recreate an unobserved trip. Your saved moments and existing path segments remain useful without that reconstruction.

Why is there no place label on my photo?

The app may lack a trustworthy position for that capture. Omitting the label is preferable to using your current location, the map center or a nearby point from a different time.
