Choose recovery rather than a highlight movie
A Daily Hop export is an assembled video designed to watch or share. It is not the archive used to restore individual moments, plans and movement. For recovery, use Backup & restore and create the originals archive instead.
Original means the media exactly as stored by Nowhop, including its normalized camera files. The archive also carries personal records such as plans and precise routes. Generated sharing movies and rebuildable downloaded map caches are excluded. Older JSON backup formats restore their supported records rather than supplying missing media originals.
Pick a personal destination and verify it
Apple explains how iCloud Drive appears in Files. Choose a personal folder rather than a shared location. Finishing the app’s file-copy operation does not certify that a cloud provider has completed an upload.
Inspect the saved file in Files and confirm the destination has enough space. Apple’s storage guide explains how to review iCloud capacity. The archive no longer depends on a single 50 MB JSON document; practical device space and validation limits still exist.
Keep a copy you can actually restore
A newer backup is not a reason to delete every older known-good copy immediately. Name or organize recovery files so you can identify their dates, and inspect restore preparation before depending on one during a phone change.
The archive is not protected by a separate Nowhop password. iCloud protection depends on Apple’s security model and account settings. This is a deliberate personal backup, not a Nowhop server account, automatic cross-device merge or unconditional encryption promise.
Questions this guide answers
Are short videos and their sound included?
Yes. The current archive supports validated stored clips up to three seconds and any source audio actually recorded. It does not manufacture audio for a silent source.
Does Nowhop Plus pay for iCloud storage?
No such entitlement is promised. Your iCloud capacity belongs to your Apple account and storage plan; the app’s planned subscription is a separate product decision.
Can I restore my journal from a shared MP4?
No. A rendered movie is not an originals archive. Keep the manual recovery file if you need the supported records and media to be restored as individual entries.
