Ask where each kind of information goes

Your day contains different information: a calendar copy, a camera original, a route observation and a search for a café. The first three can be personal records on the phone while the search still needs an external provider. Treating them as one undifferentiated category hides the useful privacy boundary.

The development app has no advertising or analytics SDK collecting its personal journal. That does not describe the public website, hosting logs or the practices of Apple and other services that answer specific map requests. Each belongs in its own explanation.

Understand the deliberate exits

Location permission allows recording; it does not authorize posting your day. Sharing remains a separate choice. Creating a Daily Hop video produces an output on the device. Sharing it then hands the selected file to a destination you choose. A manual originals backup can likewise go to Files or your personal iCloud Drive. Those actions create copies outside the ordinary local journal.

Inspect visible content before sending anything. Even without embedded GPS metadata, a recognizable building, a spoken address or a displayed place name can reveal location. Turning the export map off is useful, but it cannot make all photographed surroundings anonymous.

Do not confuse file protection with a cloud promise

Personal app files use iOS file protection. A manual backup has readable content and no separate Nowhop password layer. The security of a copy depends on the destination and account settings you choose.

Apple distinguishes standard iCloud protection from Advanced Data Protection; unconditional end-to-end encryption should not be inferred merely from the word iCloud. There is no automatic Nowhop cloud sync in this build. Keep a deliberate recovery copy if you need one, rather than assuming a sign-in has silently uploaded your journal.

Questions this guide answers

Can Nowhop remotely recover my local photos?

There is no personal-record server holding that journal for remote recovery. Recovery depends on the copies and device-level arrangements you actually created, including a valid manual backup.

Does no account mean no network requests?

No. Place search, directions, street scenes and public geography can need network services. Local personal storage and external map requests are separate decisions.

Is the website’s privacy behavior identical to the app?

No. A website can have hosting and measurement services while the native journal keeps its own records locally. Read the website and app portions of the Privacy Policy separately.
