Choose the day before the edit
Begin with the day you want to remember, then open Export Daily Hop. The preview should immediately show useful content rather than a wall of technical settings. Its short summary counts included moments and estimates movie length from the assembled scenes.
Check the thumbnail strip after changing the time range. It lets you inspect the moments that fall inside the selection. It is not a hidden editor for excluding individual photos, rearranging them or changing their original timestamps.
Make the few choices that change the result
From and To select the portion of the day. Story is a tall 9:16 frame; Square is 1:1. Include map starts off for a fresh export, leaving the media to tell the story. Turning it on reveals relevant layout and exploration-history choices.
Preview the crop, not just the format name. A person near an edge can be clipped in a different frame. A narrower time range may also remove an identifying place without deleting that moment from your private day.
Create only when the preview is right
Create video starts the native rendering operation. Progress and cancellation belong to that operation; they do not change saved originals. Keep enough device storage for the output, especially when a day contains many moments. No claim is made that every long export finishes instantly or in the background.
The browser preview is intentionally different. It can demonstrate a draft and settings, but it does not encode a real MP4 or prove a file was shared. Use the native output to judge playback, audio and compatibility.
Inspect the finished file before sending
Watch the result with sound. Check the opening, last frame, selected map content and any identifying details. Adjust returns to settings; Save video and Share are explicit next actions. Creating a movie does not automatically publish it.
The exported file is a derivative, not an originals backup. Use the separate backup flow to preserve recoverable media and records. Apple’s location-information guidance is useful before sending media beyond your phone.
Questions this guide answers
Why is the movie shorter than the selected time range?
The range chooses source moments; it is not real-time recording. Photos and short clips contribute brief scenes, with additional map transitions only when that output uses them.
Can I reorder moments in the thumbnail strip?
No. The current strip is for inspection. It shows which moments the selected range includes; it does not promise individual selection, deletion or a full timeline editor.
Will canceling export delete my day?
No. Cancellation concerns the current rendering operation and its temporary output. Saved captures, movement history and plans remain separate from a movie being generated.
Does the finished movie retain source sound?
A clip’s sound belongs within that clip’s own scene. Photos and map transitions do not inherit audio from a preceding clip. Listen to the actual result before saving or sharing it.
