Choose the smallest story that says enough
Suppose you want to share a market visit but not the walk from home. Select the relevant time range first. Then keep the map out of the output and check whether a place caption is part of the chosen presentation. Your private day does not need to be shortened to make a smaller public version.
From and To select an export, not a deletion operation. You can preserve the full original record while creating a limited derivative for one audience.
Look beyond the route line
A shop sign, a school uniform, a building entrance or a reflection can identify a place without coordinates. Audio can reveal names, announcements or a private conversation. Watch the finished movie as someone unfamiliar with your day would see it, rather than checking only whether a map is absent.
Nowhop does not claim automatic face blurring, speech removal or complete anonymization. If a moment reveals more than you intend, choose a different range or keep that version private.
Separate file metadata from visible content
Apple explains that photos and videos can carry location metadata and describes controls for sharing media from Photos. That is a separate issue from a location printed into the picture or a route drawn into the movie.
Removing metadata does not erase a visible street name. Conversely, hiding a map does not establish every property of every copy created by another app. Inspect the export and use the destination’s available privacy controls deliberately.
Treat each recipient as a new boundary
Saving to Photos, sending a file to a friend and putting it in a shared cloud folder have different consequences. Once another person has a copy, deleting your local export does not recall it. Avoid a public link when you meant a private message.
Nowhop’s current app stores personal records locally and uses explicit system sharing. It does not post a daily feed automatically. This development behavior supports careful choices; it is not a guarantee that a chosen recipient or storage provider keeps the file private.
Questions this guide answers
Is Include map off the same as anonymous?
No. It omits the added map in that output. Faces, landmarks, captions and source sound may still identify people or places, so review the actual video.
Can I keep my full day privately and share only part?
Yes. Export From and To select a range without rewriting original captures or route records. A shorter export is a derivative, not a reduced private archive.
Can Nowhop undo a video I already sent?
No recall guarantee exists. A recipient or another service may retain a copy independently. Decide what to include before using the system Share action.
Does a visible map credit mean my route was uploaded?
A source notice and a network request are different things. Attribution identifies used data; it neither proves a private-route upload nor guarantees that map searches and public-data downloads have no external requests.
