Begin with a saved day

Before a journey, open a date that already contains a plan and a camera moment. Check the address, time and photo while you still have a connection. Then inspect the same saved material without one. This tests a specific local record rather than assuming the whole app is either online or offline.

In the development build, reading those personal records does not require a Nowhop account server. New camera moments can remain local too. Usable location observations still depend on the phone and its permissions; being offline is not proof that GPS is available.

Distinguish records from scenery

A recorded path is yours. The buildings and roads drawn behind it are map data. Nowhop stores available public geometry near the areas it loads, but that does not put every country, venue image or Apple service on the phone.

Opening an unfamiliar neighborhood may therefore reveal a different limitation from opening yesterday’s photo. Missing scenery should not be interpreted as deleted movement. Conversely, seeing a cached street does not mean fresh directions or business information can be fetched.

Prepare navigation separately

Apple explains offline downloads in its Maps app, including area selection and regional availability. That is a separate preparation step. An Apple Maps download is not a promise that Nowhop inherits every offline service or street scene.

Keep the essential address and any booking confirmation available. If you need navigation on arrival, test the navigation app and downloaded area you intend to use. A browser sample cannot verify any of this on your phone.

Questions this guide answers

Can I record without mobile data?

Local capture and movement storage do not need a Nowhop server. Recording a usable route still requires location updates supplied by iOS; tunnels, permissions and device conditions can leave gaps.

Will a cached map keep every place photo?

No. Public geometry, Apple base-map content and Look Around imagery are different resources. Do not assume a geometry cache contains a street preview for every place.

Does reconnecting recreate a missing route?

No. A connection may allow pending public data to load, but it cannot recover movement the phone never observed. Nowhop does not fill that absence with a planned route.
